Bathroom project spotlight

A jetted-tub platform became a bright glass shower.

This is one continuous project sequence: the original room, demolition, the opened wall and floor, and the completed conversion.

Tub-to-shower conversion

The glass-block window stayed. The room around it changed.

The original jetted tub and tiled platform were removed to open the footprint for a shower. With the wall and floor exposed, the underlying conditions could be addressed before the enclosure, tile and finish details went in.

Two Hilltop bathrooms

Different rooms. Different starting points. One carefully finished home.

The upstairs bathroom is recognizable by its sloped ceiling and ornate mirror: an original green-tile tub surround gave way to a bright marble-look finish. Downstairs, an older shower and drop ceiling were rebuilt with white subway tile, restrained gray accents, a glass enclosure and a clean new vanity.

The work behind the finish

The same frosted window marks every stage of this bathroom repair.

The original wall tile was removed while the black-framed shower remained in place. Opening the room exposed the wall cavity, insulation and plumbing access; new wall board and compound then rebuilt the surfaces around the unchanged window and shower.

The fixed window, shower frame and room proportions trace the repair clearly from one stage to the next.
